Developed as part of "Analogico/Digitale", Altea is a transformable armchair-bed formed by a foam shell that wraps around a pouf upholstered with embroidery created specifically through a digital embroidery machine. The whole is held together by a lifting strap, fastened with a 3D-printed hook.
It is the result of an experimental design process that brought together, in synergy, craftsperson, designer and digital technologies, drawing on both advanced technological know-how and tacit craft skill at each stage: an engaging undertaking, developed in just over forty days thanks to the design process shared between the three parties.
No technical drawings were needed, precisely because of the close relationship with the craftsperson, who worked out all the design details as the project progressed.
