Low Cost was designed for public spaces, where the sturdiness of furniture is essential. The chair is made of solid beech wood: a very hard, tenacious wood with a relatively low cost.
The structure is joined with several round-section tenons, to increase resistance to bending and tension. The leg sections, as well as the joints and connections, are sized specifically to withstand stress over a longer period. CNC machining presents no particular difficulty, except for the exposed backrest joint, which is set into the rear uprights.
